Amie Potsic, a world-traveling photographer and mom from Chester County, has been taking pictures in different countries over the decades with a focus on environmentalism — and more specifically — deforestation, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6ABC.

Right after finishing her degree in photojournalism, Potsic set off to India and Israel to learn about their cultures and environments. She has been to Brazil and many other countries.

Today, she has been focusing on deforestation, an issue that she has photographed around the world. Her pictures are snapped in northern California where deadly wildfires have raged and left flat, barren lands in their wake. She compared these photographs to those she had taken of her daughter in the lush forests of the northeast, showcasing a 4-year-old girl among green ferns and trees.

Currently, her work is being featured in a group exhibition called  “Risky Beauty: Aesthetics and Climate Change,” curated by Cynthia Haveson Veloric.

Her art can be viewed at The Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania until May 23.
