Longwood Gardens Appoints New Director of Guest Services

Kennett Square’s Longwood Gardens, one of the nation’s leading horticultural displays, has announced the appointment of Christopher Benevento as its new Director of Guest Services and Operations, effective January 25th, according to a staff report from The Coatesville Times.

“Our search for a Director of Guest Services and Operations has been thorough and focused,” said Paul B. Redman, Longwood Gardens’ Executive Director. “We interviewed many talented professionals.

Chris’s varied experience, successful track record, and innovative use of technology to better serve guests made him the perfect choice. We are excited to have Chris lead Longwood Garden Guest Services and Operations into the future.”

A native of New York, Benevento’s rich career in the fields of hospitality operations and management includes working as Regional Vice President for Savor Food Service/SMG Management.

In that position Benevento’s direct responsibilities included the operational oversight of 42 venues as diverse as stadiums, arenas and convention centers, as well as performing arts venues not only in the country, but also in Canada and the Caribbean.

In his new position, Benevento, who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management from Salem University, will supervise Longwood Garden operations relating to its guests, including Longwood’s Ticketing, Guest Services Associates, Security, Gardens Shop, Custodial, Performing Arts, Terrace Restaurant, and Special Functions.

“I am honored to be chosen to lead the Guest Services and Operations of a world-class organization such as Longwood Garden,” he said.

“Longwood Garden is well known for offering its guests a truly extraordinary experience and I look forward to working with its talented staff to further enhance the guest experience at the Gardens.”

Located in Kennett Square, Longwood Gardens draws over 1,000,000 visitors annually to its more than 1,700 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows in the Brandywine Creek Valley. It is one of the premier botanical gardens in the United States and is open to visitors year-round to enjoy exotic plants and horticulture, events and performances, and seasonal and themed attractions.
