Local Director to Debut His First Feature on VoD Tomorrow

Be sure to stock up on popcorn as Chester County is about to be featured on the small screen tomorrow as West Chester Henderson graduate, Skye Dennis, is releasing his first feature film, “Murder City Angels,” through video on demand.

The film will be featured on several popular services including Verizon FiOS, Comcast, Dish Network and Direct TV, as well as Amazon Instant Video and Xbox, with Redbox and Netflix to follow shortly writes Candice Monhollan for Daily Local News.

“It’s about the journey of a man’s redemption as he’s trying to clear his name from a robbery he didn’t commit,” said Dennis. “It tackles love, betrayal, drug addiction and the family dynamic between a grandson and his grandparents, a man and his fiancé and his kids.”

Dennis started his entertainment career as an actor before he heard the call of his writing talent and took the opportunity to show off his writing chops by finishing the movie, originally titled “Myra’s Angel,” in only 30 days. This was just in time to start shooting before winter set in with the help of Coatesville’s own Rip Hamilton who became Dennis’ partner to finance the film.

If the writer, producer, and director all being from Chester County is not an incentive enough to see the movie, it has also been filmed in the area, with scenes shot in Emmett Golden Hunt Memorial Chapel, the Valley Township Police Department, the Caln Roller Rink, and Krapf’s bus.

“The majority of it was shot in Coatesville,” Dennis said. “Being from this Chester County area, a lot of businesses and the local government and municipalities, schools and families are all supportive and let me use their establishments. They want to support their own and they believe in what I’m doing. That has been a blessing.”

As an added bonus, if you think you recognized your old neighbor or high-school crush, you are probably right, as Dennis made sure to hire local actors and actresses and the young actor turned screenwriter has no plans of slowing down after his debut, with plans for a sitcom already underway.

“This is my first film,” said Dennis. “It feels good, but still a little stressful. I’m hoping it’s received pretty well. This is an ultralow budget film. This film is not going to be like ‘The Revenant’ or like one of the larger-budget films because there are some things where we had to utilize what we had. I’m hoping people will like it and people will be proud of it.”
