Three Chesco High Schools in Top 5 of State SAT Scores

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has released the 2015 average composite SAT test scores for public high schools throughout the state with three Chester County schools ranking in the top five.

Each of the SAT tests sections, reading, math, and writing, can be scored from 200 to 800 points, which combine for a composite score. Schools with over 11 students taking the test were included in the PDE data.

At the very top of the list are Unionville High School in 4th with a 1,786 average, Conestoga High School ranked 3rd with 1,820, while Downingtown Stem Academy achieved 2nd place with an impressive average of 1,837.

A number of other local schools made it into Top 50, including West Chester Henderson High School at 41st, Downingtown East High School at 37th, West Chester Bayard Rustin High School at 29th, and Great Valley High School at 16th.

TPD’s Philip Wursta Appointed to BCCC’s Board of Trusties

Philip Wursta, a leader in the local civil engineering community and Vice President at TPD has been appointed to the Bucks County Community College Board of Trustees. The fifteen member board meets every month to govern the two-year public college which was founded a little over half a century ago.

A graduate of Penn State University and Villanova University, Wursta has already served the College as a long-time board member and past President of the BCCC Foundation. His appointment to the Board of Trustees is a direct reflection of his dedication to the goals of BCCC, which are to ensure the opportunity of access to accessible, affordable, and high quality education.

“TPD is honored to share Phil’s leadership and expertise with BCCC,” said TPD’s President, Kevin Johnson. “His dedication to the region is apparent; he will prove to be a strong leader among this group.”

The Kennett economic development study and implementation plan will be presented at the first of three public meetings to be held at the Genesis HealthCare building in Kennett Square on February 11th from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

During the meeting, an overview of the study and its concept will be presented to the attendees, along with the team working on it and the tasks they have been assigned. Recent information on demographics, labor and industry, real estate and more will also be revealed, followed by an update on what has been completed so far.

“It’s an opportunity to introduce the whole concept behind this study,” said Todd Poole, the President, Founder and Managing Principal of 4ward Planning, who was hired with Mark Keener, the Director of Urban Design for the RBA Group, to help set priorities for the region’s growth.
