Philadelphia Prepares to Host the DNC

Preparations are underway in Philadelphia for this year’s Democratic National Convention which will open on July 25th at the Wells Fargo Center.

The event spanning four days, will take place in South Philadelphia until the Democratic candidate for President accepts the nomination on July 28th in front of 50,000 guests. The visitors will include delegates from all states and U.S. territories, representatives from Fortune 500 companies, and 20,000 members of local and international media.

A plethora of events is being planned by the Host Committee, including street festivals and tours around town. PoliticalFest, an interactive exhibit started in 2000 which showcases the road to the presidency and the political process, will again be featured this year.

The Committee is also attempting to recruit as many as 10,000 volunteers to help with a number of tasks and the response so far has been remarkable, with nearly 7,000 individuals already registered.

Evolve IP Offers Proactive Approach to Weak Passwords

Introduced to spread awareness and improve online security, Change Your Password Day has taken place on February 1st for several years now, but IT professionals have seen little progress by users in improving their passwords.

The latest results from SplashData’s annual “2015 Worst Passwords” list show that computer users are creatures of habit who prefer convenience over security. To combat this, security and cloud management products are offering users proactive and dynamic opportunities which could help them break the habit of having a weak password by creating a more secure environment to store technology and data.

According to the survey performed by Evolve IP on 1,080 IT professionals, the majority of responders feel their data is safest when stored in a private cloud which can protect it against concerns like malicious attacks, hardware failure, and environmental issues.
