Tredyffrin-Easttown Clinches ‘America’s Best School District’ in New Ranking
Chester County has claimed the best school district in the entire nation, with Tredyffrin-Easttown beating out all others in a new ranking published by Niche.com.
The eight-school, 6,537-student Berwyn area district boasts top state test scores (91 percent proficiency in math and 90 percent in reading), college readiness (with a 0 percent high school dropout rate), a 99 percent graduation rate, SAT and ACT scores (averaging 1930 and 29, respectively), teacher quality (with a 16:1 student-teacher ratio), and student and parent reviews.
It spends $16,180 per student, and its lowest grade was a B in student culture and diversity, as 76.3 percent of students are white.
“Just 1 percent of students are English language learners, and 6 percent of them are eligible for free or reduced lunches. In Philadelphia, those numbers are 9 percent and a whopping 86 percent, respectively,” Philadelphia Magazine stated in its coverage of the ranking.
The schools that make up Tredyffrin-Easttown include Conestoga High School, Valley Forge and Tredyffrin-Easttown middle schools, and Beaumont, Devon, Hillside, New Eagle and Valley Forge elementary schools.
