Norman Miller was ahead of his time in developing forward-thinking safety innovations during World War II, and his legacy of being at the leading edge of safety technology continues to — safely — open doors for the family business.

“Our name has become synonymous with safety,” Vice President of Marketing Flossie Mohler said of Miller Edge, the Jennersville company that makes sensing devices, controls and accessories, in a Chester County Press report by Steven Hoffman. “We never hear about the accidents that we are able to prevent, but there’s definitely a sense of accomplishment for knowing that we do make the world a safer place.”

She and her brother, President Bearge Miller, credit their father for not only the more than 100 patents he obtained but a spirit of innovation.

“We were raised with that entrepreneurial spirit,” Mohler said in the article. “My goal in life was to work for myself.”

Miller Edge has now eclipsed 150 patents and does business in three continents from its Jennersville headquarters and an Arizona facility.

“We love this area,” Miller explained. “It’s a slice of heaven. It’s one of the prettiest places you’d ever want to live.”

And the work they’ve dedicated their lives to is equally rewarding.

“There’s a fulfillment you get out of creating products that protect people and make their lives better,” he said.
