With a little prayer, a lot of teamwork and a season of perseverance, the Coatesville Kid Raiders 14-and-under football team prevailed with an undefeated 2015 record, a Bert Bell Memorial Football Conference championship, and state and national rankings.

“These kids are special, and I think the future of Coatesville football is looking pretty good,” Assistant Coach Howard Atwell said.

The group of 21 sixth- through ninth-graders — many of whom have been playing together for the Coatesville Kid Raiders since the age of 5 — triumphed in the inaugural season of the conference’s new unlimited weight division by following Head Coach Jim Limper and assistants Atwell and John Ruttman to an 11-0 record.

The Coatesville Kid Raiders players outscored their opponents 356-71, including a climactic 40-18 championship win over Prospect Park on Nov. 15.

The Kid Raiders ranked behind only the Harrisburg Broncos in all of Pennsylvania and No. 23 nationwide for unlimited-weight 14-and-under teams.
