BizBuzz: Social Media Resolutions for 2016

The New Year is just 2 weeks away! Here are 8 worthy social media resolutions for 2016.

  • Post widely. I post our content on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, and I recommend Instagram and Pinterest to many businesses. You don’t have to do it all, but do several for the greatest impact.
  • Get organized. You need tools to manage your social media. I’m a big fan of HootSuite.
  • Use analytics. Many social media platforms have introduced analytics for their users. The ones at Twitter and Pinterest are quite robust. Facebook Insights can be quite informative.
  • Be present. Make sure you check your social media interactions constantly and answer quickly. Most likely you will have to delegate this task to someone on staff or hire a professional to help.
  • Be responsive. If you receive a negative comment, make sure you post an apology and then take the interaction offline so you can make amends either by refund or replacement.
  • Be visual. Facebook posts containing photos account for 87 percent of all network interactions. Never post without a photo or video. If you link to a website, the graphics shown there may suffice. If not, there are plenty of easy-to-use apps available that can help make your posts more visual.
  • Keep them coming back. Post coupons and discounts to encourage customers to check their feeds often for your posts.
  • Try paid posts. Advertisers worldwide spent $23.68 billion in 2015 on paid media to reach consumers on social networks. Test out a few targeted posts to reach new customers and see what type of posts get responses.

If you are not already active on social media, make 2016 your year to get a great start. Your business will thank you for it.
