Former Eagle Brian Dawkins Appearing at Parkesburg Point

The Point LogoA Parkesburg youth center has a secret weapon in the battle for the hearts of youth, and it’s one that most in Chester County are very familiar with. Weapon X, known officially by the name Brian Dawkins, is coming to The Parkesburg Point for a Nov. 6 fundraiser.

Alongside a tailgate party, games and activities, the NFL great will share an inspirational look behind his 13 seasons as a defensive safety with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“He’s an incredible man, really successful, but also Christian. His faith inspired his play on the field and his life off the field, which is a really good match for The Point,” Executive Director Dwayne Walton said in a Town Lively preview of the charitable event.

“We use a lot of sports and activities to encourage kids, inspire them, get them off the street and keep them safe. Brian Dawkins brings all of that together, so we’re really excited to have him join us.”

Tickets are available in advance only for $79 from The Point until sold out. The tailgate is scheduled to run from 4:30 to 6 p.m., with the program at 6:45 to 8:15 p.m.

“Brian Dawkins was voted the most popular Eagle of this generation,” Walton said in the article. “Everybody’s excited about him. He’s what the Eagles team has always been about — hard work, gritty, ‘leaves everything out on the field.’ … It matches so well with what we have at The Point — faith is big, hard work is big, community is big — and we’re bringing all that together.”
