The Brandywine Health Foundation announced grant awards on November 11th totaling $308,000 to 17 non-profit organizations that are serving the greater Coatesville community. This latest series of grants will bring the Foundation’s total giving, since the inception of the program in 2002, to just under $14.5 million.

The grants were selected based on the Brandywine Health Foundation mission that focuses on improving the health and well-being of people in the Coatesville area. The organization believes everyone deserves to be healthy and to grow up in a vibrant community.

“On Monday night, the Brandywine Health Foundation’s board of directors unanimously approved grants to 17 non-profit organizations providing vital programs and services to families in the greater Coatesville area,” said Margaret Rivello, the Chair of the Brandywine Health Foundation’s Grant-Making Committee and Foundation Board Member.

“Health starts in our homes, schools, jobs and neighborhoods. We are pleased to partner with nonprofits that are advancing health equity to ensure that everyone in our community has equal access to opportunities to live healthier lives.”

The Foundation is trying to fight the substantial inequalities in health based on race, income, ethnicity and geography that affect the Coatesville area. As a result, the Brandywine Health Foundation is constantly investing in organizations that improve people’s lives as well as projects that help Coatesville and its surrounding area thrive.

The grants awarded in this round range from $2,000 to $65,000 with the largest grant going to Child Guidance Resource Centers. The Maternal and Child Health Consortium’s Health Start Program and Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania’s Coatesville Health Center also both receive $45,000.

Other grants include $25,000 to Human Services Inc and $20,000 to the Chester County Food Bank.

There were also three new grant recipients in this round of awards as the Chester County Health Department’s Nurse-Family Partnership will receive $10,000, Home of the Sparrow, $6,000 and the Volunteer English Program in Chester County will get $5,000.

In addition, the Brandywine Health Foundation awarded Coatesville Area Partners for Progress a challenge grant of $10,000.
