Entrepreneurs Bring Social Mission To Life With ROAR For Good

A bold new product line as socially transformative as it is personally empowering is roaring to life today with the launch of its mission-driven crowdfunding campaign led by Chester County serial entrepreneur Anthony Gold and fellow innovator Yasmine Mustafa.

On Tuesday, the duo behind ROAR for Good is unveiling their flagship product Athena, the high-tech and high-fashion jewelry-styled protector of women that roars against injustice by emitting a shrieking alarm and instantly messaging loved ones and police with your current location in an emergency.

Athena’s debut on Indiegogo is the first step for the social-mission corporation dedicated to empowering women, reducing assaults and transforming society.

“Athena’s design embodies our mission to empower women worldwide to live their lives boldly and without fear,” said Mustafa, ROAR for Good’s CEO. “The device is simple to use and effortlessly stylish, elegantly combining safety and fashion.”

A percentage of the proceeds from every Athena device sold will be invested in a nonprofit that teaches youth empathy, respect and healthy relationships — programs that have been shown to reduce violence in adulthood.

Gold says America cannot ignore the issues of violence against women and hope that it goes away. ROAR has chosen to face it directly and address it from both the intervention and prevention sides of the issue. “We refer to these issues of sexual assault, harassment and objectification as ‘women’s issues,’” he said. “These aren’t women’s issues. They are societal issues. And we need to address them as a society, including addressing the root causes and empowering more male allies to step up.”

Crowdfunded pre-orders will sell for $60, which is $39 off Athena’s retail price tag, with an anticipated release in the spring of 2016.
