Xavier Unkovic Talks Leadership with the Philadelphia Inquirer
During the Executive Q&A published in Sunday’s Philadelphia Inquirer, the CEO of West Chester based Mars Drinks, Xavier Unkovic, talks about how karate grew from a simple way to bond with his then seven-year-old son to a much more important segment of his life and in how it relates to his leadership.
Unkovic reflects on the big difference karate made in his thinking as the discipline inherent in the sport, taught him the importance of living in the moment rather than always looking to the future.
“You cannot build the future if you don’t build the present,” he said. “I was always, I want the future. Let’s move on. Let’s move on. You realize that life it goes so quickly when you’re always looking in the future.” His take away from the interview is simple, that you need to enjoy today rather than always looking to the next potential achievement.
