William Boylan to Lead Malvern Savings Bank into New Jersey’s Commercial Lending Market

Malvern Federal Savings Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Malvern Bancorp, has entered the commercial banking market in New Jersey with the appointment of veteran banker William J. Boylan as the head of its recently formed New Jersey Commercial Lending Division.

Before joining Malvern Federal Savings Bank, Boylan was the Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending for ConnectOne Bank, and before that the Senior Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for two New Jersey banks.

“Bill brings more than 30 years of New Jersey banking experience to Malvern Federal and is the ideal individual to introduce our bank to the New Jersey market,” said Anthony C. Weagley, President and CEO of Malvern Bancorp and Malvern Federal Savings Bank. “Under Bill’s leadership, I expect to quickly grow the Malvern Federal brand in the Garden State.”

Downingtown Restaurants to Offer Two Unique Seasonal Dishes for FallFEAST!

Prepare to enjoy some new and inventive culinary delights as participating Downingtown restaurants will be offering two unique dishes to celebrate the fall harvest season from September 19 to September 26.

The culinary creativity and diversity of the restaurants in the Downingtown community will be on full display as each location will have to incorporate an assigned ingredient in one of the dishes, while the other will be a “Chef’s Choice.”

15% of the proceeds will be donated to the Downingtown Main Street Association to support improvements for local residents, property owners & businesses. Among the participating restaurants are Amani’s BYOB, P. J. Whelihan’s, Victory Brewing Company and Downingtown Brewpub.

“The concept of FallFEAST! is to draw additional customers to the fine restaurants in Downingtown,” stated Bill Covaleski, President of Victory Brewing. “Once new patrons taste the quality offerings of the restaurants they will become return customers.”

Upcoming Sessions for the New Choices Career Development Program

On Tuesday, September 29, Delaware County Community College’s New Choices Career Development program will begin its next session. Classes will be held at the Marple Campus, 901 S. Media Line Road, Media,on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This successful program has been running for over 32 years, and has provided support and direction to thousands of area residents. Classes are offered three times a year, in January, March and October.

New Choices is a free service designed to help single parents, displaced homemakers and individuals in transition to achieve self-sufficiency combined with economic security.

The course focuses on career exploration and a job re-entry program that provides, among other services, individual and group support, vocational assessment, resume writing, career planning, employer contacts, and basic computer skills.

Discovery Channel ID Premiering an Episode on the Johnston Gang

A Johnston Gang episode named Broken Bond will be shown by Discovery Channel ID on September 29. The episode that focuses on the gang which operated in Chester County and throughout the eastern part of the U.S. for several decades, will air on the Evil Kin show at 9:00 p.m.

Author Bruce Mowday, who wrote the book ‘Jailing The Johnston Gang: Bringing Serial Murderers To Justice’ will be part of a special viewing event held at the Kennett Square Inn, 201 East State Street, Kennett Square beginning at 8:00 p.m.

Mowday, who covered the murder story for the Daily Local News, was interviewed along with a number of other local persons by Sirens Media for the Discovery episode.

“I don’t know if I’m in the episode or the cutting room floor” stated Mowday, “but I know they did use my book for research.”

 

Penn Township Publishes its Fall 2015 Newsletter  

Gathering all the relevant information for the local residents in one place, Penn Township has published the Fall 2015 edition of its newsletter.

Focusing on both past and future events, the publication covers such features as the recently held town hall meeting by State Senator Andrew E. Dinniman, a look back at 2015, and a ‘From Zoning to Building’ guide.

The highlight of the newsletter is a letter from the Chairman of the Penn Township Board of Supervisors, Curtis A. Mason, who covers the workings of the Board for the year in an informative but heartfelt manner.

“Each year as I write this letter, I reflect on how I might characterize our progress,” writes Mason. “2015 is rapidly becoming the year of the turning point in Penn Township as we begin to see some of our Board’s vision for the future come to pass.”
