Exton's Fox Rothschild team put together this epic lemonade stand to raise money for pediatric cancer research.

Over $5,000 Raised by Fox Rothschild’s Chester County Office for Pediatric Cancer

Showing heart through its continuing tradition of supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, the Chester County office of Fox Rothschild LLP raised $5,300 to benefit the foundation’s mission to cure pediatric cancer.

Several fundraising events were hosted over the summer, including a lemonade and snack stand at the Eagleview Town Center Summer Concert as well as a raffle for themed gift baskets.

This type of support for Alex’s Lemonade Stand is not new for Fox Rothschild, the national law firm with more than 600 attorneys practicing in 21 offices coast to coast. A long-time advocate of the foundation, the company’s offices hold bake sales and sponsor stands annually, in an attempt to raise donations to support the worthwhile goals of the charity.

Three Chester County Districts have been awarded the Association of School Business Officials International’s Meritorious Budget Award for the 2014-15 school year.

School districts throughout the United States and Canada are eligible each year for the award, and this year the Downingtown Area School District, the Great Valley School District and the Owen J. Roberts School District, as well as three more districts from Pennsylvania have been recognized with the prestigious award.

The goal of this award is to distinguish school districts which use best practices in budgeting in order to improve accuracy, transparency, sound fiscal management and communication.

“It is a much more comprehensive process than a normal budget would be,” said Richard Fazio, Chief Financial Officer of the Downingtown Area School District. “You look at financial information, statistical data and performance data on the school district as well as academic performance. It is very comprehensive and a good communication tool.”

The exhibition, the first of its kind in the country, will take place in the College’s Art Gallery, located in Room 2305 in the Academic Building until October 9, with a reception, presentation and project documentary screening taking place on September 24 starting at 4 p.m.

This exhibition is free and will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Anthony’s Pizza Returning to Downingtown in a New Location

Beloved to many Downingtown residents, Anthony’s Pizza will be returning to the town after the renovations are completed at its new location.

Anthony’s Pizza was one of the businesses destroyed in the fire at the North Park Plaza on May 12. A heartbreaking moment for the owner Danilo “Danny” Angelucci, but instead of admitting defeat he immediately began searching for a new location to bring back Anthony’s Pizza like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.

He found it in the former Avalon Restaurant on 78 West Lancaster Ave. With both the help of his family and tremendous support from the local community, the new location will be even better than before.

Previously only take-out and delivery, Anthony’s will now have indoor and outdoor dining and guests will soon see new items on the menu such as fresh bread and pasta dishes.

“The fire was devastating,” Angelucci said. “But this was a blessing in disguise.”
