Michelle Legaspi Sanchez, the executive director of the Chester County Fund for Women and Girls, will discuss at Immaculata University the impact of the recent recession on women and girls in the area. The presentation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 PM in Loyola Hall (Room 127), and is free and open to the public.

Legaspi Sanchez will examine the 2016 Blueprint Report, which is the only comprehensive needs assessment of women and girls in Chester County. Based on data collected, the report underscores the long-term effects of the economic recession on the health, safety, and financial security of women and girls.

The Blueprint Report, and consequently the presentation at Immaculata, brings these issues and trends to the foreground and informs dialogue and planning.

Newlin Township

Newlin Township will soon receive a $754,354 grant to rebuild a portion of Laurel Road.

“Improving road safety in Newlin Township is imperative to the community,” said Rep. Eric Roe. “I’ve seen the deterioration firsthand, and I have spoken to many of the residents who live nearby. This was a long time coming.”

The grant will be used to complete the rebuild of an 820-foot portion of Laurel Road in Newlin Township that has eroded into Brandywine Creek due to storms and flooding.
