Chester and Delaware County SCORE Leaders Receive Chapter of the Year Trophy

The Chester and Delaware County SCORE chapter was honored with the “2015 Best Chapter of the Year” award at the SCORE’s 2015 National Leadership Conference held in Reno, Nevada last month.

SCORE is a non-profit organization that provides free counseling to entrepreneurs and small businesses.

The goal of the conference was to motivate SCORE leaders to learn from existing best practices as well as to create a specific plan for their chapters utilizing those practices.

On hand to accept the award for Chester and Delaware County were past chairperson Jerry Francis and incoming chairperson Steve Crumrine.

CCBILOGOCCCBI to Host Executive Welcome Breakfast

With the goal to bring together newly appointed executives from corporations across the Chester County region, the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry will host an exclusive Executive Welcome Breakfast on September 17 at West Pharmaceutical Services main offices.

The event will also give executives a chance to be introduced to officials from County government, education, tourism, and the CCCBI’s Board of Directors.

“We want to offer the opportunity to expand networks and increase knowledge of Chester County and the entire region,” stated Guy Ciarrocchi, CCCBI President & CEO.

Devon Preparatory School Names New Headmaster

Reverend Francisco Aisa, Devon Preparatory School’s general manager and director of campus ministry, has been named the school’s sixth headmaster, replacing Father James Shea, who has retired after 21 years of highly distinguished service.

Rev. Aisa, a native of Zaragoza, Spain, was ordained as a priest in 1987 and holds several degrees in Theology. During his extensive career he has spent several years in Puerto Rico as a seminary director and has served as general vice-rector of the University of Cristobal Colon in Veracruz, Mexico.

“I am privileged to be asked to lead this prestigious institution at such an exciting time in its history,” said Re. Aisa. “I look forward to working with the Board of Trustees, alumni, faculty, students and parents as we explore new ways for the school to provide the best possible all-round education for the young men of Devon Prep.”

Clydesdale Horses Coming Back to West Chester

September 4th (6pm-8pm) will see the Budweiser Clydesdales returning to West Chester for the second year in a row on the on their way through the Philadelphia area as part of the Budweiser ‘Made in America’ festival.

First introduced in 1933 after the repeal of Prohibition, the Clydesdales have been an icon ever since. “There’s a lot of pride when you see the crowds,” said Chris Wiegert, assistant supervisor of the East Coast Hitch of the Budweiser Clydesdales. “It’s an honor knowing you’re part of it.”

West Chester Mayor Carolyn Comitta noted that this is a family event which represents a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all RAMP – Responsible Alcohol Management Program- certified liquor-license owners.

Chester County will be able to see the majestic horses from 5pm to 9pm with between 15,000 and 20,000 people expected to be at the parade.
