Chesco Residents Given a Chance to Voice Concerns over the Mariner East 2 Project

Close to 150 people attended an open house hosted by Sunoco Logistics to hear about the Mariner East 2 project. Residents flocked to the meeting in Brandywine Manor House in Honey Brook to express their concerns about the company’s plans.

The key issues were the additional dangers of the new pipeline, whether it would lower their home value and if the project could potentially restrict how they can use their land.

Wednesday’s gathering was also an opportunity for residents and local officials to learn more about the pipelines that will cross the western half of Chester County, from Elverson Borough south through Uwchlan Township. Sunaco agents had the chance to speak with residents and explain Sunoco Logistics’ easement process as well as providing additional information about issues of health and safety, the construction process and the pipeline operation.

The patent covers the use of the biopharmaceutical company’s new drug candidate MLR-1019. Melior Discovery’s drug will be used to treat Dyskinesia a side effect associated with L-dopa therapy.

Levodopa or L-dopa is one of the main treatments for patients who suffer from Parkinson’s as it helps convert dopamine in the brain, essential for reducing irregular movements. MLR-1019 helps reduce Dyskinesia, a side effect of long-term L-dopa therapy, and should assist patients who encounter difficulties or distortions when making voluntary movements.

Ball and Ball Helping to Rejuvenate Antique Chippendale Furniture

Ball and Ball specialize in creating parts for antique hardware restoration and provide valuable assistance in restoring old furniture.  They also helped prepare furniture for a new exhibit at the National Gallery in Washington.

Two TPDers Accomplishments Recognized

Two members of Traffic Planning and Design Inc (TPD), based in Oaks, PA, have been recognized for their accomplishments in the past month.

TPD1 (1)Joe Janos, P.E., Trails Design Manager and Highway Design Engineer at TPD, was honored with the George Stout Award at the South Jersey Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineering’s 36th Annual Awards Luncheon.

TPD employee, Joseph Platt, Jr., P.E., was named one of the region’s top Transportation Demand Management professionals under the age of 40 as a part of the Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association’s 2nd annual awards program. Full story here.

Downingtown’s Summer Jam begins June 26

With a huge variety of musicians and lots of delicious local food, Downingtown begins its Summer Jam series on Friday, June 26. This 3 part music series will have performances on 2 stages, one of which will focus on showcasing local artists.

The School of Rock will takeover the stage in Armor Alley Pocket Plaza along Route 30, with the food providers and arts and crafts vendors centered in the heart of Downingtown, along Mill Alley.

After the success of last year’s event, the organizers have decided to extend the one evening event to three evenings spread throughout the summer. The events will be held on the last Friday of the next three months from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on June 26, July 31 and August 28.
