Becker’s Healthcare Announces 2015 CIO Leadership Award Nominees

Forty-five Chief Information Officers (CIO’s) in the healthcare industry have been nominated for Becker’s Healthcare CIO Leadership Awards for 2015.

The nomination recognizes information professionals who have made remarkable contributions in their field and the award is designed to reflect achievements that will leave a lasting legacy to health systems, hospitals and communities on a local, national or global level.

Among the 45 nominated are Chad Brisendine, from St. Luke’s University Health System in Bethlehem, PA, Deborah Cancilla, from Pinnacle Health System in Harrisburg, PA, and Ferdinand Feola, from Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, PA. See here for the complete list of nominees.

DuckDuckGo Celebrates 10 Million Daily Searches with Shirt Giveaway

DuckDuckGo, the up and coming search engine launched in 2008 is celebrating passing the landmark threshold of ten million searches a day, by giving away ten thousand DuckDuckGo t-shirts to people who have helped spread the word of the service.

The Google competitor, based in Paoli, PA, that focuses on protecting a web surfer’s privacy has seen a continuous increase in popularity since its inception. The browser got an additional 600% boost after news of NSA surveillance of private citizens web habits broke two years ago.

The increasing popularity is hardly surprising as the latest PEW Research Center reports show that people care deeply about their online privacy. Switching to DuckDuckGo as a primary search engine has become even easier with a built-in search option in Safari and Firefox.

Benchmark Federal Credit Union to Exclusively Serve Chester County

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Benchmark Federal Credit Union, Benchmark Chairman of the Board, David Harrod, and President and CEO, David LaSala, attended a ceremony to mark the start of its new community charter.

The new charter will enable Benchmark FCU to exclusively serve Chester County and allow it to offer membership and provide services  to anyone who lives, worships, works, or attends school within the area.

With its main office in West Chester and branch offices in Great Valley and Collegeville, Benchmark FCU had previously mainly focused on providing services for employees of Pfizer, formerly Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.

Throughout the month of July, Benchmark will be treating both new and existing members with special promotions and giveaways. Part of the roll out of the charter will also include an emphasis on financial education for the underserved and the addition of new local branches over the next two years.

New Board Members Appointed to Bridge of Hope

Headquartered in Coatesville, PA., Bridge of Hope, a Christian faith-based organization serving homeless women and children in Lancaster and Chester Counties, has welcomed four new members to the board of directors.

Chelsea Spiegelhalder of Coatesville, PA, holds a bachelors’ degree from Elizabethtown College and a Master’s of Science from Salus University brings a wide variety of community service experience.

Molly Brown of Exton, PA, has been an active community volunteer for over 15 years, and is a 2014 graduate of the Leadership Chester County program.

Doug Thompson of Glenmoore, PA, brings to the board a strong background in marketing and Martha Hilty Becker of Glenmoore, PA, will add her 25 years of banking and finance experience to the new look Board.
