This weekend the doors will be opened wide to the mystical world of art in Chester County, and members of the public can venture into the inner sphere of inspiration for a free look at the life of an artist before the brushstrokes, in the midst of molding the clay and prior to the public display. 

It’s a blockbuster weekend showcasing 100 artists in 47 different studios tucked away in the alleys of small towns or in flower-filled neighborhood backyards and townhomes — pick and choose from those that interest you or meander along one of a few pre-mapped routes that take in scenic roads, several sculpture artists or plein air painters. With a vast diversity of mediums professional artists work in today, such as paper, porcelain, metal, clay and steel, there’s something for everyone.

And there’s affordable artwork for sale too. Participating artists are creating unique 6-inch by 6-inch works that will be available for $75 during the tour.

This year’s Chester County Studio Tour runs Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
