Of the medical facilities in and closest to Chester County, Bryn Mawr HospitalChester County HospitalMercy Suburban Hospital in Norristown and Riddle Hospital in Media all garnered A grades, according to Tredyffrin-Easttown Patch coverage of the nonprofit Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Score for this year.

No area hospital received a B, and none were graded below a C, which was the grade handed out to Paoli Hospital, Phoenixville Hospital and Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.

Leapfrog assessed the medical facilities on “whether physicians and nurses took steps to optimize safety during surgeries, whether patients received adequate post-op care, whether staffing levels were appropriate to prevent threats to patients’ health and whether facilities had clearly defined protocols to protect patients,” as well as “the use of antibiotics to prevent infections, steps to prevent blood clots, the maintenance of surgical wounds, prevention of bed sores and medical staff teamwork to minimize errors,” the article stated.
