Mural By Presidential Artist Adrian Martinez Added To Growing Downingtown Art Scene

Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with internationally known painter Adrian Martinez, a number of local high school students recently added brush strokes to a new mural celebrating the brand new Downingtown Library and the making of the borough into Chester County’s hub for fine arts.

“The project was great for the young artists,” Martinez said in a press release. “I enjoyed working with them. Also, this is another indication that Downingtown is becoming the center for arts in Chester County. The Downingtown Main Street Association — I’m president — has been promoting Downingtown as such.”

The 8-foot by 25-foot work of art features a trio of panels featuring two knights in battle, a female muse and amusing dogs and a cat.

“The different panels depict action, drama and adventure in one panel; mystery, creativity, poetry and literature in another panel; and comedy in the third panel,” said the artist, whose other masterpieces include national park murals for the White House, the Bush family’s 2001 Christmas card and several drawings for Camp David.
