The constant bloom of fresh, creative ideas across the landscape of Kennett Square’s thousand-acre Longwood Gardens has drawn the choicest praise from the International Garden Tourism Network, which honored Executive Director Paul B. Redman as its 2015 Person of the Year.

“Ever since Paul Redman arrived at Longwood Gardens, his tenure has been marked by innovation, excellence and the raising of garden tourism to new heights both regionally and nationally,” IGTN Chair Richard Benfield said in a Daily Local News feature this week.

Among the most celebrated attractions there are the “spectacular exhibit Light: Installations”, the internationally-acclaimed Green Wall restroom design, participation in global research exchanges, high-tech educational programs, the picturesque new Meadow Garden, the recent film-worthy Aeolian organ competition and the coming “Nightscape” experience.

“I am honored, and so is Longwood, to receive this recognition from our international peers,” Redman said in the article. “That’s what distinguishes this award from others in the field. Longwood plays an increasingly important role in our region as a cultural attraction.”

Read much more about the award and highlights of Redman’s nearly-10-year tenure, including the instrumental army of staff and volunteers working with him, in the Daily Local News here.
