According to Long & Foster’s Chester County Housing Market report for January 2015, the median sale price of a house in Chester County was $298,700, an increase of 10% or $26,406 compared to last year and a whopping $128,800 higher than the median price of a Pennsylvania house statewide.

Assuming an interest rate of 4.11% and a 20 percent down payment, a family would need a combined household income of about $61,000 to afford a 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage in Chester County.
