Centennial Inauguration Kicks Off Big Year For Coatesville

By

The pomp and circumstance surrounding Coatesville’s 100th anniversary is set to mark not just a passive milestone for the western Chester County community but a turning point in its century-long history.

The inauguration of its months-long centennial celebration on April 27 at the old train station aims to look back down the tracks with big tributes to one of Coatesville’s biggest names and its steadfast lead employer as well as look ahead to the horizon by honoring a big winner from the next generation through the logo design contest and heralding big plans for the future, according to a press release from the Williams Group.

The most anticipated announcements are expected to come from Gov. Tom Wolf concerning news about the proposed new Coatesville Train Station and surrounding redevelopment plans.

Other big headlines could include expansion plans for Routes 82 and 30 and further details of Legend Properties’ block-long redevelopment vision at the very intersection of those highways.

At least 11 other community celebrations are also lined up to make the Centennial year one to remember.

Read more about the centennial inauguration, including a detailed draft timeline of events and a full listing of future events, in The Williams Group’s press release here.
