Covered Bridge: Baseball, Moneyball and a Philip Glass Memoir

By

The moment is upon us as our favorite teams, donning Florida sun tans, head back onto the field to open the 2015 Baseball season. You can find our article on the original Philly Phanatic and his new business here, or check out our baseball themed “Did You Know?“.

And because we couldn’t keep ourselves away from it, we’d also invite you to read Janet Maslin on Michael Lewis’s “Moneyball” from 2003 here. After all, “How can you not get romantic about baseball?”

Finally, the avant garde composer Philip Glass has a memoir hitting shelves this week. An artistic vision built on repetitive song structures and fluid references to other world music traditions is fully detailed in the autobiography, as well as Glass’s reliance on odd jobs before his breakout opera “Einstein on the Beach”. In addition to his classical work, Glass is also well known for contributing scores to “The Truman Show”, “The Fog of War” and “The Illusionist” to name a few. Read the book review here.
