Senator Dinniman Urges Use Of Pothole Tipline

Drivers in Chester County now have a legitimate scapegoat for their pothole-induced road rage: PennDOT’s direct-to-road-crew pothole hotline, 484-340-3201. And state Sen. Andy Dinniman is both endorsing its frequent use and keeping tabs on where they’re being fixed via his website.

“There is no question that some of our state roads are absolutely riddled with potholes,” the lawmaker said in a press release this week. “The best way to get them filled and fixed is to report them directly to PennDOT. Please do not put yourself in danger or risk an accident in an attempt to avoid a pothole or to report a pothole. ”

When calling to report a pothole, motorists should be as specific as possible and include the state route number, county, municipality and street name, along with familiar landmarks.

According to PennDOT officials, at least eight road crews are exclusively tasked with filling and fixing potholes each day. They’re using both spray patchers and hot asphalt to fix as many potholes as possible, though some stretches of roadway with multiple potholes will be scheduled for milling and repaving later this spring.
