More Than A Dozen Mobs Set To Attack Local Litter For Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania

By

Littered roads, trails and riverbanks in Chester County will soon be under assault from thousands of friends and neighbors filled with community pride and determined to bring beauty back to the local landscape this spring.

At least 15 events from Oxford to Phoenixville are set to transform the county from dungy to delightful as part of the statewide annual Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania from March through May, according to listings on the initiative’s website.

“Pennsylvania is a beautiful state, and it’s imperative that we work together to keep it that way,” Acting Secretary Leslie S. Richards said in a recent PR Newswire announcement. “I urge individuals to join the thousands of volunteers in their communities to participate in the cleanup this year to keep Pennsylvania beautiful.”

The effort encompasses PennDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program and reduced-or-free-disposal Pick It Up PA Days events from April 11 to May 4, and the transportation agency also provides gloves, trash bags and safety vests to participants.
