Endo Pharmaceuticals of Malvern has offered to acquire the specialty pharmaceutical firm Salix of Raleigh, N.C. for $175 per share, or $11.2 billion, Philadelphia Business Journal reports.
The offer tops the 10.1 billion, $158-per-share proposal of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International of Quebec.
Salix is focused on preventing and treating gastrointestinal disorders and last year had sales of more than $1.1 billion. Read the story here.
VISTA Today reported that last year Endo also purchased DAVA Pharmaceuticals, Somar in Mexico City, Paladin Labs of Montreal and Auxilium Pharmaceuticals.
