Iron Springs Farm

Pennsylvania’s wealthiest woman lives and breeds horses in Chester County.

According to Forbes, Mary Alice Dorrance Malone, who’s fortune is estimated to be $3.2B,

“. . . is one of several heirs enjoying the fruits of the condensed soup formula that her grandfather, John T. Dorrance, invented in 1897. It transformed Campbell Soup Co. into a global food giant and made Malone, the company’s largest shareholder, a billionaire. She’s served on the board for 24 years, along with her brother, Bennett Dorrance, and cousin Charlotte Colket Weber, both of whom are also billionaires (Weber missed the cut for this year’s Forbes 400). Campbell Soup has $8 billion in revenues and brands such as Prego, V8 and Pepperidge Farm under its umbrella. Malone also breeds horses at Iron Spring Farm, a 1,000-acre property she owns west of Philadelphia.

Malone ranks 192nd on Forbes 2014 list of America’s Richest People.  No other Pennsylvania on Forbes’ list, male or female, has more wealth than does Ms. Malone.
