The quick adoption of smart phone payment technologies has been an unexpected boon for USA Technologies.

On the heels of the release of the cutting-edge mobile payment option Apple Pay, Malvern-based USA Technologies has announced that 200,000 of its client locations are now ready to accept iPhones and Apple Watches for payment at “coffee brewers, vending machines, kiosks, laundry equipment, parking pay stations and other self-serve appliances,” according to a report this week in Finextra.

“We anticipate that the millions of consumers who frequent these locations will appreciate the convenience and security of using Apple Pay for their everyday purchases, and we believe that Apple Pay will help to drive additional sales for our customers,” Chairman and CEO Stephen P. Herbert said in the article.

“USA Technologies has always sought to provide convenience, security and an easy way to pay for consumers who are less and less likely to carry cash.”

In addition to being wireless and cashless, a leading feature of Apple Pay is that credit or debit card numbers are never used; rather, payment is transferred via a unique device account number and a one-time-only security code.
