The Land Conservancy For Southern Chester County Reviews 2014 Accomplishments

The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County, which has so far this year received $1.62 million in funding from grants and contributions, says it is wrapping up a successful year of preservation efforts.

The conservancy recently penned an overview of its work during 2014 for the Times of Chester County.  This year TLC worked on new conservation easements in three townships for open space, farmland and riparian buffer protection; land management at four local nature preserves; added another trail segment to the Red Clay Greenway Trail; partnered with the state to train Pennsylvania Master Naturalists for the third consecutive year; expanded local outreach with environmental education programing and events; and conducted almost 100 environmental education programs for adults and children. In all,  3,221 citizens participated.

“We are a group of passionately dedicated people, focused on preserving the unique character, natural environments and cultural heritage of this special corner of the world,” said Gwen Lacy, executive director.
