Winter Weather Warning Collides With Holiday Travel

By

Mother Nature is preparing to dish out some winter weather for Thanksgiving this week, and the season’s first significant snowfall could collide with one of the year’s busiest travel days on Wednesday. In response, the Chester County Department of Emergency Services is stressing the importance of being prepared for the two to four inches of snow or whatever materializes on the weather menu.

“Winter weather can be risky for people who don’t take the proper precautions, and I urge everyone to take the time to check their vehicles now, before traveling during this holiday season,” Deputy Emergency Management Director Robert Kagel said in a press release. “Make sure your vehicle has winter necessities like a shovel, windshield scraper, water, blankets and snack food.”

Savvy travelers can sign up for emergency text or email notifications at http://www.readynotifypa.org/ and review their emergency plan using the tools and resources at http://www.readychesco.org/, which include ready kits and checklists tailored to the elderly, businesses, people with special needs and those with pets.
