A new Whole Foods Market and 127-room hotel are just the start of what Newtown Square hopes to be a popular high-end destination for living, working and enjoying life.

“Whole Foods’ use (of space) and the architecture will set the tone. Walnut Street will be our prospecting turf,” Senior Vice President of developer Equus Capital Partners, Ltd. Stephen Spaeder said in a Philadelphia Business Journal report.

Whole Foods’ lease of 41,700 square feet is more than a third of the 114,000 square feet available for the first wave of retail development, though the vision is for the Ellis Preserve development to attract a total of 350,000 retail square feet next to a 270,000-square-foot office building, 310 apartments and 100 townhouses on 210 acres at Route 3 and Winding Way.
