Another Naming Dispute Hits West Chester Restaurateur Dave Magrogan

Stella Rossa in Downingtown

After sorting out a restaurant naming dispute with The Hotel Hershey earlier this year, West Chester’s Dave Magrogan Group is now rebranding its Stella Rossa Ristorante chain in the wake of a challenge from a Texas winery that doesn’t even sell its product in the state and ahead of more expansion plans.

“I was disappointed that we have to change the name due to the fact that a Texas-based winery that doesn’t even sell wine in Pennsylvania feels there’s a conflict in both companies using the name, but I took the opportunity to expand our menu and bar offerings and re-energize the concept,” Dave Magrogan said in a Philadelphia Business Journal report. “We’re utilizing this change to make the brand better.”

Both Downingtown and Center City locations will now be called Barra Rossa, with the opening of additional restaurants possible next year as far away as Virginia, the article noted.
