West Chester Company Helps Service Dog in Need

By

The “people-inspired” and West Chester-based provider of the world’s most comprehensive portfolio of orthopaedic and neuro products and services itself so inspired a fellow Pennsylvanian that its generous act attracted the attention of a major television news network.

The plight of a retired elementary school teacher with multiple sclerosis whose service dog suffered a knee injury earlier this year reached DePuy Synthes, which then donated the knee plate integral to the Labrador’s two-hour reconstructive surgery, according to a Centre Daily Times account of the story.

The 7-year-old service dog is now fully recovered and back in action, helping Brenda Mader walk again.

“Max is a very important part of Brenda’s life, so being able to get him back for her is huge,” veterinarian Bob Rider said in the article.

Read more about the story of DePuy’s medical device donation and the impact it made in Mader’s life in the Centre Daily Times here.
