Cast Your Vote And Help Longwood Gardens Win ‘Top Toilet’ Status
Everyone knows Kennett Square’s Longwood Gardens is a world-class garden, but did you know it might have the nation’s best rest room facilities?
Longwood is currently among 10 establishments hoping to be named America’s top toilet.
The gardens, whose 17 restrooms are part of the largest indoor “Green Wall” in North America, gained the notice of Cintas Corporation, which is running its popular America’s Best Restroom Contest.
Longwood is competing against tony establishments that include Plums Cafe in Costa Mesa, Ca. and The Fabulous Fox Theater in St. Louis.
If you haven’t seen Longwood’s bathrooms in person, they and their unique competitors are on view here.
Longwood’s bathrooms have lush greenery and domed, naturally lit lavatory cabinets hidden within the “Green Wall.” Each restroom contains etched translucent glass at the top of the dome to provide natural light, reduce electricity and minimize the need for light fixtures.
“The restrooms at Longwood have become a ‘must-see’ for our one million annual visitors, and we even have docents nearby to share the story of their creation,” said Patricia Evans, communications manager at Longwood Gardens. “To be named America’s Best Restroom would be a testament to our creativity and environmental stewardship.”

Voting ends Oct. 31. The winning establishment receives a complimentary deep clean of their rest room and $2,500 in credit for restroom supplies from Cintas.
