American Cancer Society Inaugurates CEO’s Against Cancer Chapter
Last Thursday CEOs from the South Eastern Pennsylvania region met at the Philadelphia Union League to inaugurate the PA chapter of the American Cancer Society’s CEOs Against Cancer initiative.
The 100 year-old American Cancer Society is the nation’s largest, non-profit funder of life-saving cancer research. Since 1946 the ACS has raised over $3.9 billion for researchers studying pathways to prevent and treat cancer. Notably, they count over 44 Nobel Prize winners as recipients of ACS funding.
The ACS also provides important services for people undergoing treatment of cancer such as a 24/7 information hotline, wigs and prostheses, and financial or volunteer support for patients traveling for cancer related care.
Dr. John R. Seffrin, the CEO of The American Cancer Society, entreated business leaders to partner in “Finishing the Fight” against cancer. The CEO’s Against Cancer partnership allows CEO’s the opportunity to lend their skills and, in some cases, notoriety in raising funds to support the American Cancer Society.
