Medgenics Appoints Scott Applebaum To Top Legal Post
Scott Applebaum is the new chief legal officer at Medgenics of Wayne.
Medgenics is developing BioPumpâ„¢, a proprietary platform for the sustained production and delivery of therapeutic proteins using ex vivo gene therapy and the patient’s own tissue to treat orphan and rare diseases.
Applebaum comes to Medgenics from Shire Pharmaceuticals in Nyon, Switzerland, where he was senior vice president of the firm’s neuroscience business unit. He was responsible for worldwide regulatory strategy, execution, operations and compliance. He earned a bachelor of science degree in economics at the Wharton School and a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School.
“We are very excited to have Scott join our management team,” said Michael Cola, president and CEO at Medgenics. “He has a demonstrated ability to lead teams through the necessary operational, legal, strategic and regulatory hurdles associated with drug development and commercialization. We greatly look forward to his insight and guidance during this important time of growth as we formalize our development strategy going forward.”
