Faster Amtrak Trains, Fancier Stations Headed For Chester County

The blur of Amtrak trains speeding across Chester County is only getting faster, but commuters to the city are about to do a double take when they arrive at five soon-to-be brand new or vastly improved stations at Paoli, Exton, Downingtown, Coatesville and Parkesburg.

“Our train stations are the front doors to our communities,” state Sen. Andy Dinniman announced. “You only get one chance to make a first impression, and we want to get it right.”

Passenger trains are poised to accelerate 15 mph faster through the county, topping out at 125 mph, and community members are helping shape their unique “front door,” each of which is in various stages of development but will be constructed soon, sparking a wave of revitalization and economic opportunities.

“These station projects plus the rail improvements currently under way are giving Chester County a public transportation system worthy of the 21st century,” Dinniman said in the article.
