EPA Fines Action Manufacturing For Illegal Explosives Stockpile

By

The dust is still settling after Environmental Protection Agency inspectors detonated a $1.2 million fine and five years of probation against munitions component maker Action Manufacturing Co. for an illegal stockpile of explosive hazardous waste at its western Chester County site in Atglen.

The company had for “years or even decades” piled up the waste without a permit instead of transporting it for proper disposal, the Philadelphia Business Journal reported.

The penalty also covered records violations when Action moved explosive materials over public roads.
Action is now taking care of the mess — and hiring a new president and CEO.
