A Malvern resident and owner of more than 100 restaurants has a big appetite to pile on new Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc. locations in the Philadelphia market.
Jay Pandya bought three company-owned Checkers drive-ins to help launch a franchise plan to open 14 new Philly restaurants by 2018, according to a recent Philadelphia Business Journal article.
“We have not historically sold company restaurants,” said Checkers Vice President of Franchise Development Jennifer Durham. “But in this particular instance, we needed a strong base to grow and it made sense for us to do that.”
She added that the Checkers locations in Philadelphia see a 10 to 15 percent better return on investment than the national average, and each location supports 20 to 30 jobs.
