How is Berwyn-based aerospace supplier Triumph Group‘s acquisition of a former GE Aviation parts factory seen in Yakima, Washington?

As a “sign of strength for the industry in the Northwest,” according to Bob Uptagrafft, vice chairman of the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance.

Triumph’s acquisition is the $3.7 billion company’s fourth location in the great Northwest, adding Yakima to its roster of facilities that also include a composites plant in Spokane, a metal machining plant in Everett and an electronics facility in Redmond, according to news from the Puget Sound Business Journal.

“This accretive acquisition furthers our strategic goals of increasing our global footprint, optimizing our segment and customer balance, and positioning ourselves for future growth,” Triumph President and CEO Jeffry Frisby said in the article.

The Yakima addition also came bundled with two GE business units in the United Kingdom. The total price tag was $70 million, and Triumph expects $180 million in annual revenue in return.
