AmerisourceBergen Names Walgreens CEO To Board, Plans For ThoughtSpot 2014

AmerisourceBergen Corp. of Chesterbrook recently named Gregory D. Wasson, president and chief executive officer of Walgreen Co., to its 11-member board of directors.

Collis, president and chief executive officer of AmerisourceBergen. “With his innovative insights, long-standing commitment to community pharmacy, and demonstrated partnership philosophy, I am certain that Greg will make valuable contributions to our board.”

In addition to being Walgreen’s CEO, Wasson’s career with Walgreen’s has spanned 33 years.  He has been a member of its board of directors since 2009. Wasson has also served as a director of Alliance Boots GmbH since August 2012 and of Verizon Communications, Inc. since March 2013.

Collis is among the AmerisourceBergen executives who will speak at ThoughtSpot 2014, the annual independent community pharmacy tradeshow set for July 30 through Aug. 2 in Las Vegas, Nev. The event draws thousands of independent community pharmacists and about 250 exhibitors.

Joining Collis will be keynote speaker celebrity Chef Robert Irvine of Restaurant Impossible, who will share his years of transforming restaurants into successful businesses and tips for using those strategies to improve community pharmacies.

AmerisourceBergen, a large global pharmaceutical sourcing and distribution services company, employs 13,000 people, is ranked 32 on the Fortune 500 list and has more than $100 billion in annual revenue. The firm aims to help both healthcare providers and pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturers improve patient access to products and enhance patient care.
