For West Chester Firm, State-Of-The-Art Not Good Enough

By

A state-of-the-art natural gas power plant proposed to be built by West Chester-based The Data Centers LLC isn’t cutting-edge enough for Newark, Del., where the City Council has raised red flags over environmental concerns.

“The bad news — if there is any,” said consultant Gavin Biebuyck of Liberty Environmental as reported by WDEL, which was commissioned by the city to study the project’s impacts, “is that some of the pollutants are higher than we think they should be and there’s some additional steps they can take to minimize air quality impacts.”

The Data Centers plans to construct the 279-megawatt power plant alongside its data center for the University of Delaware STAR Campus, but first it may have to come up with a more thorough environmental analysis.
