Two Chester County artists – Susan Schulz and Neil Dreibelbis – will have their work displayed in the prestigious “Art of the State: Pennsylvania 2014” exhibition at the State Museum of Pennsylvania this summer.

The 47th annual exhibit showcases established and emerging artists and will run June 22 through Sept. 14.  In all, 122 works of art by 114 artists from 30 counties will be there to see.  The two local artists were selected from among 782 artists.

“My work is motivated by the life experiences I encounter through a close observation of man and nature, and by a curiosity and need for constant discovery,” he said on his web site.  “My work is based on emotions and feelings, personal reactions to experiences.  It is not only an attempt at self-expression, but also a reaction to the radical changes I see occurring in our culture.  My art is constantly evolving in its outlook and representation.  In response to the rapid changes in technology, I find my art to be a counter balance to what I see happening around me.”

Cash prizes will be awarded at a June 21 artists’ reception at the State Museum. The winners will be announced via Twitter @PHMC at 7 p.m.  The exhibit is co-sponsored by The State Museum and Jump Street, a Harrisburg-based non-profit organization.

The State Museum of Pennsylvania offers expansive collections interpreting Pennsylvania’s heritage. Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for children and senior citizens.
