Wawa On Top Of Fuel Pricing With New PriceNet System

By

While the change is unlikely to be noticed by those grabbing gas and coffee at their local Wawa, the major regional convenience store has just purchased the Kalibrate PriceNet fuel pricing system, which will soon be implemented at 382 Wawa fuel sites.

PriceNet allows retail networks to quickly respond to competitors and market conditions to ensure optimal fuel prices – for the company. In a news release, Kalibrate Technologies (formerly KSS Fuels) said Wawa will utilize PriceNet’s full capabilities. These include 24/7 pricing automation, full integration to the sites, robust analytics to determine optimal pump prices and mobile functionality on smartphones and tablets.

“We are delighted to partner with Wawa on implementing PriceNet, enabling consumer behavior, predictive analytics and global pricing best practices to enhance their performance,” Bob Stein, president and chief executive officer of Kalibrate Technologies, said in a company news release.

“I’ve been in the convenience store industry for over 30 years and Wawa has always been esteemed as one of the best operators in the world,” he said. “It is a privilege and honor to welcome Wawa to our global portfolio of clients. Kalibrate will combine its software, experienced people and data analytics to deliver Wawa measured decisions with measurable results.”

“Kalibrate has demonstrated that PriceNet and their experienced people can bring value to our pricing process and decision making,” said Brian Schaller, vice president of fuel at Wawa. “Kalibrate will help us meet our strategic and tactical initiatives to improve performance. The system will help Wawa provide even greater value to our customers by enabling faster responses to changing market conditions. We look forward to a successful partnership together.”

Wawa, Inc. – which can trace its beginnings to a New Jersey iron foundry in 1803 – owns and operates a chain of more than 645 convenience retail stores, 382 offering fuel. Its stores are in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Florida.

In April Wawa will hold grand openings for four more stores, three in Florida and one in New Castle, De. The stores offer a large fresh food selection including built-to-order hoagies, freshly brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, made-to-order specialty beverages, and an assortment of soups, sides and snacks.

Kalibrate is a leading global provider of fuels pricing and retail location intelligence. For 20 years the firm has helped retailers fine-tune decisions with software, analytics and consulting.

Kalibrate has headquarters in Manchester, United Kingdom and Florham Park, N.J.
