The Exton Square Mall has several community events scheduled for the spring, including a free Kids Club event and a spring carnival.

Powers Great American Midways will be in the mall parking lot May 9-18 with more than 20 amusement rides, carnival games and food stands. Carnival hours are 5 to 10 p.m. week days, 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday. In case of rain, the carnival may close. One-day wristbands are $25 per person, and rides are also individually priced.

The Chester County Art Association will sponsor Kids Club at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13. Children are invited to make flower pots, take home seeds, and have their faces painted. The event will be on the lower level in the Chester County Art Association studio.

Those who like shopping at the Exton Mall will this fall be able to explore another shopping destination – The Gallery at Market East, 801 Market St., Philadelphia. The Exton Mall’s owner, Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT), on April 24 announced Century 21, a New York fashion retailer and department store, will be the anchor tenant as PREIT renovates and redevelops the Center City retail complex.

Century 21 chose The Gallery and its location in the heart of Philadelphia as its first venture outside of the New York market.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Joseph Coradino, chief executive officer of PREIT, announced the company’s plans for The Gallery at Market East and Century 21 in a news conference with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. The Gallery at Market East will open in October: http://www.philly.com/philly/business/20140425_Retailer_Century_21__in_sync__with_the_Gallery_s_desired_customers__PREIT_s_CEO_says.html#lKTCqErpFgqKdg7C.99

“With this transaction, our vision to create Philadelphia’s only transit-oriented, retail anchored multi-use property offering accessible luxury retailing and artisan food experiences is becoming a reality,” said Coradino in a company news release. “Century 21 is the ideal brand to change the retail landscape of this city and attract new shoppers to the Market East corridor and more exceptional first-to-region retailers to the project.”

Century 21 is an iconic New York-based retailer known for designer label and brand name merchandise sold at reasonable prices. For more than 50 years, Century 21 has been known for trendsetting styles and first quality merchandise. The store features men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, footwear, outerwear, lingerie and accessories, cosmetics and home goods. Headquartered in Downtown Manhattan, Century 21 has four other New York locations and three additional locations in Northern New Jersey.
