Freedom Village Retirement Community in West Brandywine, Chester County, has been given “Best Nursing Home” status from U.S. News and World Report in its sixth annual Best Nursing Homes review.

Freedom Village, located at 15 Freedom Blvd., West Brandywine, is a Brookdale skilled nursing community, which saw 17 of its retirement communities in the U.S. earn Best Nursing Home status. Freedom Village is the only facility in the state to receive the honor. Only about 25 percent of all nursing homes received five stars overall.

“We are pleased to have so many Brookdale communities among the highest rated in the senior living industry and this is a direct reflection of the daily efforts of associates who are committed to providing quality care to our residents,” Rita Vann, senior vice-president of Healthcare Services, said in a company news release.

“Excellence is part of our mission and something we strive for daily as we enrich the lives of those we are fortunate to serve,” she said. “We take ownership and pride in everything we do at Brookdale, and results like these show that our associates are passionate about serving our residents.”

U.S. News awarded the “Best Nursing Home” designation to communities that received the highest rating in January from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. CMS sets and enforces federal requirements and standards for nursing homes that are certified to receive Medicare and Medicaid payments. The ratings are based on a community’s performance in health inspections, nurse staffing, medical care and quality.

Brookdale Senior Living has 640 senior facilities throughout the country. Its corporate headquarters are based in Brentwood, TN.

Freedom Village is a continuing care retirement community near Brandywine Hospital. It offers services for independent living, assistive senior living and Alzheimer’s care.
