Malvern Institute Names Scott Weisenberger CEO
The Malvern Institute, specializing in comprehensive addiction counseling, recently announced Scott Weisenberger is now the organization’s chief executive officer.
Weisenberger, MA, LPC, was formerly chief operating officer for Malvern Institute, which has provided state-of-the-art, evidence-based, individualized addiction treatment since 1948. Weisenberger has worked in the field of drug, alcohol and psychiatric treatment in the Philadelphia region for the past two decades.
The institute said his background in clinical operations as well as financial responsibility and administrative oversight made him the best candidate to develop the growing organization.
Malvern provides a full continuum of care at locations in Pottstown, Berwyn, and Bucks and Lehigh counties. Its care ranges from community 12-step meetings to a 12-step meeting tailored specifically for medical and counseling professionals who are themselves in recovery.
Malvern also provides inpatient detoxification, inpatient rehabilitation, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, general outpatient programs and intervention services. Special care is offered for high risk patients and those dealing with relapses, mental health issues, chronic pain, grief or trauma.
The history of Malvern Institute reaches back to the 1940s when the C. Dudley Saul Clinic was founded by Dr. Saul and Dr. C. Nelson Davis to treat those suffering from alcoholism and psychiatric conditions.
Dr. Saul was among the first doctors in the country to embrace Alcoholics Anonymous and actively supported the first AA group in Philadelphia. That group operates what is now one of the oldest continuously running AA clubhouse in the country, the 4021 Clubhouse in Philadelphia.
